Ingredient Class Microgreens!

This week we’re featuring two products that fill an “ingredient class” need. They fit our goal of having micros that bring something tangible to the plate. They’re a meaningful complement to your dish.

The Micro Cilantro has been growing incredibly well and will have a citrusy, floral combination of cilantro and coriander flavors. The other feature, our Micro Korean Shiso is more on the anise side of the spectrum with some basil notes.

Holiday Menu Planning!

When it comes to holiday menu planning and getting the colors of Christmas on your plate, we’ve got you covered with our Red Vein Sorrel. The lime green teardrop leaves set off by bold red veins are complemented with a tongue-tingling citrus. The Red Vein Sorrel is also one of the most memorable microgreens when we talk with consumers.

If you’d like the Red Vein Sorrel a little larger, slightly closer to ‘petite’ size, let us know. The veins tend to darken and get more pronounced as the leaves get larger.

Now that we’re into November, those crowds are going to start pouring in! Looking forward to a busier season for all of us! The catch-up on inventory is going well. To update from last week, the Red Cumin Shiso is looking good. They will be a little small this week, but after that we should be in great shape. In case you missed it last week, the seed for Bicolor Shiso is no longer available to us. We are replacing it with Korean Shiso. It has the same flavor profile, but the color is more prominently green, with less of the purple undersides. Finally, we’re still working out the kinks on amaranth, so supplies are limited there. Get those orders in quick!

Hi Folks!

Just a couple updates on product availability this week. We are catching inventory up to your fall menus, so there are a couple of items in short supply. Red Cumin Shiso is limited, but coming on strong in the coming weeks. Also, the seed for Bicolor Shiso is no longer available to us. We are replacing it with Korean Shiso. It has the same flavor profile, but the color is exclusively green, without the purple undersides. Finally, amaranth has been giving us some production headaches, so supplies are limited there as well. Get those orders in quick!

Microgreens Offerings for the week of October 26th

Hi Folks!

In our work to grow the highest quality produce possible, we are working on some new innovations that we want to share with you. First, as mentioned above, we are trying some of our micros under LED lights. The advantages to LED boil down to enhanced grow time, more consistent product, and reduced energy costs and a lower carbon footprint. We are only one trial in, but so far, we are happy with the results. The spicy mix has never looked so good! The leaves are coming in bigger and more uniformly than they ever have under fluorescent lights.
